Bookkeeping software for several companies: Switchbooks
Updated
Switchbooks is bookkeeping software for owners who run several companies or LLCs. One login opens every company, each company keeps its own books and costs $25 a month, and combined Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports across any of your companies are included at no extra cost. Switch, the built-in AI bookkeeper, does the books in each company, and the same companies work inside ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Grok Bot.
In short: an owner of several US companies who wants one Profit and Loss without building a spreadsheet pays $25 a month per company in Switchbooks, with combined reports included. For combined reports, QuickBooks Online needs Advanced's Spreadsheet Sync, Intuit Enterprise Suite or an add-on, and Xero needs Syft or another add-on.
Consolidation in Switchbooks adds up each company's own books for management reporting. It does not post intercompany eliminations or translate currencies, so a group that needs audited, statutory consolidated statements needs an accountant or an enterprise system as well.
Switchbooks for several companies, at a glance
- How companies are organized: One login, any number of companies, and a company switcher. Each company has its own chart of accounts, bank connections, transactions, team and reports.
- Price: $25 a month per company, billed separately, each with its own 10-day free trial and no credit card. Combined reports cost nothing extra. There is no multi-company discount.
- Combined reports: Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Snapshot and Forecast across any companies you choose. The Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow can show a column for each company next to the total.
- How accounts combine: Accounts with the same name and type, under the same parent account, add up on one line; accounts with different names show on their own lines, so the companies do not need identical charts of accounts.
- Periods and comparisons: The combined Profit and Loss and Cash Flow run by month, quarter, year or total, with a year-over-year comparison. The combined Balance Sheet runs as of a date or by month, quarter or year, and compares with the preceding period or the prior year.
- Drill-down: Click a total to see the transactions behind it from every company, then open one to fix it inside its own company.
- Groups: Save sets of companies as named groups, each with its own saved reports and live share links.
- Exports and sharing: Combined Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow export to Excel or Google Sheets. Saved and shared reports also print to PDF.
- Which companies count: Only companies that have finished setup appear in combined reports.
- People: Roles are set per company (Owner, Team Member or Accountant), and each person sees only the companies they are invited to; an accountant's staff see the client companies their firm gives them. Each company allows up to 10 people, not counting an accountant's own staff.
- The AI bookkeeper: Switch works in whichever company is open; open another company and he works there. He can also invite one person to several companies in one request.
- From ChatGPT and Claude: One connection reaches every company you can open. The assistant lists your companies, works in the one you pick, or names a company for a single request. Combined reports are in the Switchbooks app.
- Accountants: An accountant sees every client company in a Firm section and gives their own staff access company by company.
- On a phone: Combined reports are on the computer; on a phone the app shows the company list and the chat.
- Not included: Intercompany eliminations, currency translation, minority interest and statutory consolidation adjustments. All accounts are in US dollars.

Questions
How much does Switchbooks cost for several companies?
$25 a month for each company, billed monthly with no multi-company discount: two companies are $50 a month ($600 a year), three are $75 a month ($900 a year), four are $100 a month ($1,200 a year), five are $125 a month ($1,500 a year), six are $150 a month ($1,800 a year) and ten are $250 a month ($3,000 a year). Each company's $25 includes Switch, bank connections, up to 10 people and use from ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Grok Bot, with no per-user fees. Combined reports across them are included.
Can I see one Profit and Loss for all my LLCs?
Yes. Open Consolidation on the company list, choose the companies or a saved group, and the combined Profit and Loss adds them up by month, quarter, year or total. The Cash Flow combines the same way, and the Balance Sheet combines as of a date or by month, quarter or year. Accounts with the same name and type, under the same parent account, add up on one line; accounts with different names show on their own lines, so the companies do not need identical charts of accounts.
Can I compare my companies side by side?
Yes. The combined Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow can show one column per company plus the total, for one period at a time.
Does Switchbooks handle intercompany transactions?
Each company books its own side, for example a loan between two companies as a due-to account in one and a due-from account in the other. Combined reports add each company up as booked; Switchbooks does not eliminate intercompany balances automatically. Because nothing is eliminated, a management fee the holding company charges an LLC shows as revenue in one and an expense in the other, so combined revenue and combined expenses both include it while combined net income is unchanged. A loan between two companies shows as both an asset and a liability on the combined Balance Sheet.
Do I need a separate login for each company?
No. One login opens every company you own or are invited to, and the company switcher moves between them. Each person's role is set company by company.
Can my bookkeeper or accountant see all of my companies?
Yes. Invite them with the Accountant role to each company, or ask Switch to send all the invitations in one request; they accept one per company. They see your companies in their Firm section, can edit the books, and can give their own staff access company by company. Their staff do not count toward each company's 10 people.
Can ChatGPT or Claude report across all my companies at once?
Not as one combined report. One connection reaches every company you can open: the assistant lists your companies and works in one company per request, so you can ask about each company in turn. The combined Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow are in the Switchbooks app.
What happens if one company stops paying?
Each company is billed on its own, so only that company locks, with its books kept, until someone subscribes again. Your other companies are not affected.
Is Switchbooks good for rental properties each in its own LLC?
Yes, when each property is its own US LLC and you want one Profit and Loss across all of them every month. Six property LLCs are $150 a month ($1,800 a year), and each property's rent, mortgage interest, repairs and other costs stay in its own books. It does not produce audited consolidated statements or eliminate intercompany balances.
Is Switchbooks good for franchise locations?
Yes, when each location is its own US company and you want management reports, such as one Profit and Loss across all of them. It does not produce audited consolidated statements or eliminate intercompany balances.
