How easy is Switchbooks to use?
Sign up, connect your bank accounts, and you're done. Transactions sync automatically, rules categorize the recurring ones, one message to the agent categorizes the rest, and reports are always up to date. If you can type a question in plain English, you can use Switchbooks.
How does automated categorization work?
Switchbooks looks at your transaction descriptions, amounts, and payees to suggest the right category. It uses your own posting history, so every transaction you post makes the next suggestion better. Ask the agent to categorize and post your transactions, or set up rules that handle recurring transactions on their own.
How do bank connections work?
Connect your bank accounts, credit cards, and financial institutions through Plaid, the same provider used by major financial apps. New transactions sync automatically. Ask Switch to post them, or set rules that post recurring ones on their own.
What can the built-in agent do?
Ask questions in plain English like "How many transactions need categorization?" or "Categorize the Uber transaction to Travel" and get an instant response. The agent categorizes transactions, creates payees and categories, generates reports, and answers questions about your finances.
Can I export reports to Excel?

Can I manage multiple companies?
Yes. Add as many companies as you need, each with its own chart of accounts, bank connections, and reports. Switch between them instantly. Each company is $25/month.
How do rules work?
Set up rules like "If description contains Starbucks, categorize as Meals & Entertainment." Rules run when new transactions come in, so recurring expenses get categorized without you touching them. You can still review and change anything before it is posted.
How customizable is Switchbooks?
Fully. Create your own chart of accounts exactly how you want it. Add unlimited categories, subcategories, and custom payees. Import from Excel or QuickBooks, then customize from there.
How does class reporting work?
Classes track parts of your business separately, such as departments, properties or projects, with a Profit and Loss by class. The Switchbooks team turns them on for your company on request.
Can my accountant access my books?
Yes. Accountants get their own login and a firm workspace to manage client companies. They can view reports, review transactions, and manage categorization without needing your credentials. Invite them from your settings.
