Is Wave still free in 2026?

Partly. As of October 2026, Wave's Starter plan is $0 and includes unlimited invoices, estimates, bills and bookkeeping records, according to waveapps.com/pricing. The catch is bank data: automatic bank import and automatic categorizing are on the Pro plan, at $19 a month or $190 a year. On Starter, you add bank transactions yourself. Card payments on invoices cost 2.9% plus $0.60 per transaction on Starter (3.4% plus $0.60 for Amex), and payroll and receipt capture are paid add-ons.

So Wave is still a good free invoicing tool. Books that stay current on their own are the part that now costs money.

Switchbooks is $25 a month per company, with connected banks and Switch categorizing and posting for you, but no invoicing. If you like Wave for invoices, you could keep it for that and let Switchbooks keep the books.
